#blessed

Admit it – you kind of chuckled at the title of this post.

The last few months I’ve wanted to start organizing the thoughts in my mind by sharing them with the world (..or like..7 people..thats a good solid amount)

When we walk through all types of different seasons – they all have a common denominator – blessings.

When everything is going really good – you got that promotion at work, that guy/girl of your dreams said yes or you’re just REALLY excited that football has started (me) it’s easy to count your blessings.

I’ll never forget a couple of years ago Courage Church was taking Christmas gifts to families we adopted in Detroit and the particular family I got to visit had a crazy story, and had another organization drop of some gifts prior to our visit. The mom was shocked when we showed up with gifts – she looked at me, super thankful and said that she didn’t know how to thank us, then said “I don’t want my kids to think this is always what a blessing looks like”

Mind blown.

When you’re in a place of despair – you’re brokenhearted, you’re mad, confused, hurt or just wondering why you are where you’re at – blessings are a little harder to find.

They might seem..small…tiny…possibly even non-existent. Trust me, I’ve been there.

The other day I read James 1:2-4 –

2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing”

but don’t stop there…you should keep reading it…its a good word.

Consider it ALL joy. It’s hard – but when you do..your eyes are opened to things that you didn’t notice before..things that you see in a different light, things that you thought were struggles turn into BLESSINGS.

Encourage someone to see things they’re overlooking because of struggles they’re walking through..they’ll be blessed by you!

Maybe that someone is you – and you need to remember the things that you’ve been blessed with – things that you’ve been redeemed from, things you never thought you’d have…you’ve been blessed because you are LOVED…and that is the ultimate blessing.
